★ポイント★
「主張」のニュアンスが薄れ、「獲得」の意味に近くなる

If something or someone claims your attention, they need you to spend your time and effort on them.

• There is already a long list of people claiming her attention.(彼女に話を聞いてほしい人々は既に大勢いる)

★ポイント★
「尊敬・注目などを要求する→値する」という意味に発展

If you say that a war, disease, or accident claims someone's life, you mean that they are killed in it or by it. (FORMAL)　

• The civil war claimed the life of a U.N.interpreter yesterday. (=took the life of)

★ポイント★
「求める」から転じて「奪う」ニュアンスが出る。takeやcostと交換可能。
