「取引される」の英語表現

（例文）The Nikkei average is expected to trade in a narrow range on Tuesday amid concerns about the global economy,

自動詞のtrade（at...) は「(...で) 取引される」という意味であり、商品、市場、セクター、指数など、様々な名詞が主語になる。自動詞のtradeに「～を取引する」という意味合いはないため、「「日経平均」という商品が取引されているわけではないから、tradeは使えない」という説明はナンセンスである。

（例）The S&P 500 trades at nearly 18 times projected earnings for the current financial year.

日経平均も指数としての扱いであり、the Nikkei Stock Average is expected to  move in a range of... = the Nikkei Stock Average is expected to trade in a range of...としても、何ら問題はない。
